Relentless Trial and Error - The Distinguishing Characteristic of Great Entrepreneurs

Medici Effect: What Elephants and Epidemics Can Teach Us About Innovation
by Frans Johansson
Want to Be a Great Entrepreneur? Welcome Relentless Trial & Error Where Needed.

Hello, Everyone! This video features a high-energy talk by Frans Johansson, an entrepreneur, hedge fund managing director and author. In this talk Johansson "illustrates how relentless trial-and-error – the process of coming up with an idea, executing it on a small scale, and then refining it – is the distinguishing characteristic of the greatest entrepreneurs, scientists and artists. This is so because human beings often aren't very good at predicting which of their ideas are going to be a success. Therefore, almost every major breakthrough or innovation has been preceded by a string of failed or misguided attempts. For such experiences, Johansson reminds us, quoting Churchill, "If you're going through hell, keep going." In other words, if you're going through a diffuculty keep working to get out of the difficulty; do not stay in the difficulty.

More About Frans Johansson
Frans Johansson is an entrepreneur and thought leader. Also, he is a consultant and managing director for a hedge fund. Johansson previously co-founded and managed two companies: a medical device company operating out of Baltimore, Maryland and Stockholm, Sweden, and a Boston-based software company. Additionally, Johansson is a successful author and has written on a variety of topics, including business management, healthcare, sport fishing, and how to save our oceans. His best-selling book, 'The Medici Effect', has been translated into 17 languages and was named "One of the Ten Best Business Books of 2004" by Amazon.com. ~ The 99%

A New Way to Publish Web Content: Microsoft Montage

Publishing Content with Montage

Hello, Everyone! Microsoft Montage provides an easy way to aggregate content people find on the web, such as tweets, images, and articles, into a web page. The resulting embeddable web page 'lives' on the Montage site.

In the video, Fritz Nelson, VP, Editorial Director, InformationWeek and Matt McLauren, Director of User Experience, FuseLab explain and demonstrate how easy Montage is to use!

Also, you can view the Montage Demo for even more information.  Here's a Montage I created on the topic 'small business technology' for you to see 'live'. I created this one without doing any coding so I could discover how easy it would be to create by those of you that do NOT code.  It's very easy and quick to use. It took only moments to create! Later, just for the fun of it, I created another one featuring peonies, which are one of my favorite flowers. This one took a few more minutes to create than the first because I searched for content to add with specific peony sub-topics such as 'peony wallpaper', 'peony perfume' and 'peony candles'. I think the resulting Montage is beautiful with all the peony items (of course, I would)!

I think you all will enjoy using Montage. It looks like the possibilities for Montage are vast!

Post Update 1/30/2011:

Montage is so delightful to 'create' with that I made a few more: Merlin, Chateau Vaux le Vicomte, and F-14.  Enjoy!
