"You Can Acquire & Achieve Everything in Life You Desire, If ..."

Good day, Everyone! Today, I'm sharing some of the wonderful wisdom of Hilary Hinton "Zig" Ziglar. Zig Ziglar, born on the 6th of November 1926, is an American author, salesperson, and motivational speaker. Below, you'll find several wisdom-filled statements and success principles by Zig Ziglar which are so valuable for life endeavors. Be sure to check out the Zig Ziglar Twitter movie linked to at the end of the quotes!

  • You can get everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.
  • A man or woman is seldom happy unless he or she is sustaining him or herself and making a contribution to others.
  • Failure has been correctly identified as the line of least persistence.
  • Success occurs when opportunity meets preparation.
  • Desire is the ingredient that changes the hot water of mediocrity to the steam of outstanding success.
  • If you don't save something on your current income, you won't save anything on your future income.
  • Happiness is not pleasure — it is victory.
  • I believe that being successful means having a balance of success stories across the many areas of your life. You can't truly be considered successful in your business life if your home life is in shambles.
  • If you can dream it, then you can achieve it.
  • You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want.
  • If you don't see yourself as a winner, then you cannot perform as a winner.
  • If you learn from defeat, you haven't really lost.
  • If you want to reach a goal, you must "see the reaching" in your own mind before you actually arrive at your goal.
  • Little men with little minds and little imaginations go through life in little ruts, smugly resisting all changes which would jar their little worlds.
  • People who have good relationships at home are more effective in the marketplace.
  • Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will.
  • Remember that failure is an event, not a person.
  • Sometimes adversity is what you need to face in order to become successful.
  • Statistics suggest that when customers complain, business owners and managers ought to get excited about it. The complaining customer represents a huge opportunity for more business.
  • Success is the maximum utilization of the ability that you have.
  • The foundation stones for a balanced success are honesty, character, integrity, faith, love and loyalty.
  • The way you see people is the way you treat them.
  • You cannot climb the ladder of success dressed in the costume of failure.
  • You cannot perform in a manner inconsistent with the way you see yourself.
  • You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win.
  • Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude.

View a delightful 'western/cowboy' themed movie about the Laws of the Twitterverse from Zig Ziglar and see how some of the quotes above apply to Twitter, as well!

Twitter Widget: How to Resize It to Fit Your Sidebar

Hello, Everyone. By now you know that Twitter is an extraordinary tool for business/entrepreneurs, particularly if you:
  • include a functioning URL for your website/blogsite
  • Tweet about your latest blog posts, your events, your other social sites, & such which directs traffic to your sites.
  • use the Twitter widget on your site to display those 'tweets' so that people that visit your site can click on the links to your other sites and visit. It's another tool!

As I visit my Twitter Followers' sites, I've noticed that many have their Twitter widgets sized too wide to display properly within the boundaries of their sidebars. That can be solved by resizing the widget, appropriately. Below, I've included several examples of actual Twitter widgets that I've resized. I've highlighted the numerical values in green.

To resize your Twitter (Facebook) widget (Note: I'm using the same widget on this Blogspot/ Blogger blog in a different color) look for the two, width and height values and increase or reduce the value to fit your space. The code values to look for appear twice in the widget's code; two for height and two for width.

Examples of the resized widget are below. By increasing or decreasing the width="___" and height="___" values, I'm able to resize the widget after pasting the code into my blog.

width="290" height="350"

width="200" height="260"

width="400" height="460"

width="200" height="400"

width="150" height="150"

Twitter: To Tweet or Not to Tweet (1)

Hello, Everyone! Today, I'm sharing a wonderful presentation series entitled, 'Twitter: A Conversation - To Tweet or Not to Tweet', which of course is about the amazing tool, Twitter! The series has five presentations. Four of the five presentations will post here, today. I think you will find each presentation to be enlightening and helpful. I hope you enjoy them. Take care!

"Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read messages known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the author's profile page and delivered to the author's subscribers who are known as followers. Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow open access. Users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, Short Message Service (SMS) or external applications. While the service costs nothing to use, accessing it through SMS may incur phone service provider fees.

Since its creation in 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Twitter has gained notability and popularity worldwide. It is sometimes described as the "SMS of the Internet" since the use of Twitter's application programming interface for sending and receiving short text messages by other applications often eclipses the direct use of Twitter.

Twitter is ranked as one of the 50 most popular websites worldwide by Alexa's web traffic analysis. Although estimates of the number of daily users vary because the company does not release the number of active accounts, a February 2009 Compete.com blog entry ranked Twitter as the third most used social network based on their count of 6 million unique monthly visitors and 55 million monthly visits. In March 2009, a Nielsen.com blog ranked Twitter as the fastest-growing site in the Member Communities category for February 2009. Twitter had a monthly growth of 1,382 percent, Zimbio of 240 percent, followed by Facebook with an increase of 228 percent. However, only 40 percent of Twitter's users are retained. A recent study found that 40% of twitter messages constituted "pointless babble"." ~ Wikipedia.

Personally, I do not agree with the negative comments about Twitter. Furthermore, I encourage those people to exercise patience with Twitter as it goes through growing pains!! How to Use Twitter - Basics

How to Use Twitter
from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

Different social media have different uses, strengths, advantages. Twitter[1] could be called a 'real time social networking' site. Learning how to use this fun, and useful, tool can be a bit intimidating. However, with a little effort, it is a tool that can make you 'digitally' famous.

Steps

  1. Go to Twitter.com[2] and sign up for a free account.

  2. Work on your 'bio'. You want to make it eye catching, and interesting. Do it just right and it will help you build up 'followers'.

  3. Add friends. You will probably find that you know quite a few people on Twitter. Using the 'Add Friends' utility, you can find people you know through your various GMail, AOL, MSN, Hotmail and Yahoo! accounts.

  4. Using @Replies. Click '@Replies' to see if there are any replies to any of your 'tweets'. When tweeting, using '@' followed by a user name (with no spaces) in your Tweet will send a 'mention' to the user you choose. For example, '@BarackObama' will send a mention to BarackObama and the entire Tweet will show up in his '@Replies' section.

  5. Send DMs. DMs are Direct Messages. They go straight to the intended person that you are messaging. It utilizes an inbox and outbox system, but you are still limited to using 140 characters; you are also limited to users who follow you.

  6. Send updates. This is where the tweets are generated from. If you want to let your followers know what you are doing, type it in the 'Update' text box and then click on 'Update'. You are allotted 140 characters to do this with.

  7. Use hashtags. Prefacing a word with a '#' will create a hashtag. For example A hashtag makes a certain word easily searchable. For more info on hashtags see the WikiHow article on How to use Hashtags with Twitter.

  8. Learn the Twitter lingo and use it appropriately.[3]
    • Retweet or "RT" - copying a tweet from another user.
    • Tweet - a Twitter blurb or update
    • TweetUps - Using Twitter to meet with other Twitter folks

  9. Look for people from organizations that you are in or for those that share a common interest.

Video

Tips

  • Try to use just one tweet to get your point across. If it carries on to another tweet it should be shortened.
